If you’d like to find out just what drumming with a Brazilian samba band is all about, or would like to learn something new, develop your rhythmic skills and musicality, meet new like-minded people, make new friends and perform at local events, then that’s exactly what Garden City Samba can offer.
Our classes are run by the award winning percussionist and tutor Ravin ‘Raz’ Jayasuriya, a specialist in Brazilian and Cuban percussion.
So why not come along, give it a try and grab this opportunity to join your local family-friendly community percussion group. No prior drumming or music experience is necessary. All levels of abilty are welcome.

Resources to help you learn
Members have access to a range of resources including video tutorials for intrument training and on our repertoire. These are designed to help you develop and practise away from class.
Who can join?
Our classes are open to everyone, regardless of musical experience, age, social or economic background. We wish to encourage young people, families and the hardest to reach people within the community to benefit from our activity. Our membership fees include concessions and special family rates.
Everyone who joins our group will benefit from the new skills they learn, make new friends and enhance the local community through performances. Drumming have proven benefits for both mental health and physical fitness and we have seen first-hand how being part of an active community group can literally change people’s lives
Where do we meet?
Drumming classes are held at Jackman’s Community Centre, Ivel Ct, Letchworth Garden City SG6 2NL
When do we meet?
Weekly on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 pm.
Blocks of 10 classes cost £80 (standard rate) or £50 (concessionary rate).
